The new home to the Snellville City Police will be a new two story 31,750 s.f. complex. The facility will also have a detached kennel and ammo storage building. The site is located adjacent to the newly erected town hall. The headquarters is located off Wisteria Dr. which is a go between from U.S. Highway 78 and 124. The facility also has some designated areas that will act as central command post in times of county emergencies. The building will house the Chief of Police, Captains, Lieutenants, Investigators, Shift Supervisors, Sergeants, Officers and K-9 units as wells as other disciplines. Sections of the facility are designated to records, evidence, training dispatch, exercise, lockers, and break area. Some unique areas are the maintenance area for swat and undercover vehicles and crime scene investigation area with garage. Design components of this project included shallow foundations, underground water detention, elevated floor utilizing composite slab / beam floor system, bar-joist roof, diagonal brace system for lateral loads, and masonry wall design to institutional security.
