DESCRIPTION

Haines, Gipson & Associates, Inc. provided the Structural Engineering services for a new 28,000 s.f. one story building for Cobb County Department of Public Safety. The scope of this project was to provide a Public Safety Education Building for Cobb County. The purpose for this building was to use it in the training elementary age students in fire and police safety. This interactive building can train up to 200 students a day in a visually stimulating environment, which is fashioned after a small village displaying many iconic Cobb County structures. This building recently won the Design Build Institute of America-Southeast Chapter’s 1st Place Design Award!

PROJECT BUDGET
$3,500,000

  • Site fire protection and domestic water service extensions to and throughout the site
  • design and detailing for the site wastewater management system and the associated storm water collection and conveyance systems
  • (BMP’s) and other storm water pollution control and prevention measures to comply with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey mandates
  • Building structure components included a conventional structural steel frame system with joist girders and column moment frames on a deep pile foundation
