MT. CARMEL CHURCH

DESCRIPTION

Mt. Carmel Ministries undertook the task of building a new 14,000 sq-ft two story chapel in 2007 to meet the needs of their ever growing ministries. Overlooking the western shores of Lake Carlos, near Alexandria MN, the design team was tasked with providing a warm, open multipurpose space the meet the year round needs of the camp. After much discussion the design team settled on the use of a steel composite beam for the elevated floor framing and widely spaced wood gang nailed trusses to support the roof. A 16’ tall cast in place foundation wall was used around three sides of the building to provide for the daylight basement look and the structure was supported on a shallow foundation system.
