JFK AIRPORT – AIR CARGO FACILITY

DESCRIPTION
HGA provided the Civil and Structural Engineering services for the 2 building facility totalling 500,000 sq-ft, 6.5 acres of new taxi way and aircraft apron pavement, 100 new truck stalls and truck court parking areas, and the site infrastructure improvements to support the development of Tracts 8 and 9A at the J.F.K. International Airport in Jamaica, New York.

Components of this project included:

  • A new entrance drive into the Airis Air Cargo facility campus
  • Pedestrian access to the new light-rail system servicing the hangars provided by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey
  • Walkways and handicap access throughout the site and its 511-space parking facility
  • Site fire protection and domestic water service extensions to and throughout the site
  • design and detailing for the site wastewater management system and the associated storm water collection and conveyance systems
  • (BMP’s) and other storm water pollution control and prevention measures to comply with the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey mandates
  • Building structure components included a conventional structural steel frame system with joist girders and column moment frames on a deep pile foundation
