HGA provided engineering services for a 3-story hospital addition serving as ER/OR suites.

Project Challenges:

• Basement level undermined existing foundation
• Soil nailing and helical piers required
• Operating room on 3rd floor – 7.5” composite slab for vibration control
• 15’ distances between composite beams
• Reduce slab movement on sensitive machines
• Ambulance arrival located on 2nd floor – drive into building
• Existing cast-in-place concrete structure: FRP roof for snow drift and
• FRP 2nd floor skip joist for medical records storage
